CGST + SGST Calculator

See both halves of intra-state GST together, side by side, in one step.

Enter a taxable value to see CGST and SGST side by side.

How the calculation works

This shows both halves of intra-state GST together so you can read off the exact figures for your tax invoice.

  1. CGSTTaxable value × (Rate ÷ 2) ÷ 100
  2. SGSTIdentical calculation — same base, same half-rate
  3. Total payableTaxable value + CGST + SGST

Worked example

Consulting services billed at ₹1,00,000 within Tamil Nadu at 18%.

You enter

Taxable value₹1,00,000
Rate18%

You get

CGST @ 9%₹9,000.00
SGST @ 9%₹9,000.00
Total payable₹1,18,000.00

Important points to keep in mind

  • Both amounts must appear separately on the invoice — combining them as 'GST' is non-compliant.
  • The combined 18% here matches what an inter-state buyer would pay as IGST.
  • Report the two halves in their own columns of GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B.

Frequently asked questions

Why split GST into two parts at all?

India's GST is a dual tax: the Centre and states each levy their own portion on local consumption, so both show up on every intra-state invoice.

What rate halves apply at the 28% slab?

14% CGST plus 14% SGST. Compensation cess, where it applies, is shown additionally.

My buyer moved to another state mid-order. Now what?

Tax follows the place of supply at the time of supply. If it becomes inter-state, issue the invoice with IGST instead of CGST/SGST.
